New York Community Trust Van Lier Fellowship for Visual Artists supports a cohort of 3 visual artists between the ages of 18 and 30 years old for a residency at Abrons Arts Center over the course of 21 months. 2024 BRONX MEMOIR PROJECT BOOK COVER ART
Bronx Council on the Arts is seeking a Bronx-based photographer and/or visual artist to design a cover for The Bronx Memoir Project Volume VIII, a multi-genre anthology written during the 2023-2024 Bronx Memoir Project Workshop Series. The Bronx Memoir Project offers free, professionally-led memoir-writing workshops across the Bronx. Aligned with BCA’s mission to elevate local narratives and stories, the Bronx Memoir Project helps amplify local voices and document Bronx history through an array of writing tools, along with the professional development needed for writers to publish on their own. The Empire State Fellows Program is a full-time leadership training program that prepares the next generation of talented professionals for careers as New York State policymakers. The incoming class of Empire State Fellows will serve from September 2024 to September 2026, and receive an annual salary of $85,000, plus a generous benefits package. Building on the social activist history of Penington’s founders, original board, and later residents, the Bayard Rustin Residency at Penington Friends House (PFH) is envisioned as an ongoing ladder to empowerment for Black Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) working to end Systemic Racism and to create a culture of anti-Racism and intersectional equality in the United States of America. It is also intended to extend and strengthen the wider Quaker witness to equality. Beginning in September of 2024, this residency will provide up to one year of room and board to a person who demonstrates a strong project that addresses ending Systemic Racism and who has a necessity to be in New York City for up to one year. Areas of focus of their work can include activism in the arts, policy change, human rights, community organizing, and other areas of activism focusing on ending racism and strengthening equality.

The City of Denver's Public Art Program seeks to commission an artist or artist team to create original public artwork(s) for the Denver Zoo, located in Denver, CO. The goals of the commission are to create artwork for the Denver Zoo’s new “Guest Experience Hub” that celebrates the Zoo as a place of curiosity, gathering, discovery, and inclusivity. 2024 LOS MUROS ON MAIN:MIDVALE CITY MURAL FESTIVAL
The Midvale City RDA is working to revitalize Midvale’s Historic Main Street by highlighting the area’s unique culture, identity, history, and community spirit once again by transforming Midvale Main into an arts, culture, and food district. Activating the street by inviting artists, vendors, and visitors to the street is just the start. In the beginning stages of establishing this district, this festival is a vital part of the revitalization process. This year's call is open to all artists 18 years of age and older. The design must be family-friendly and suitable for the public realm and capture the interest of those that drive, ride, and walk by. Jamaica Center for Arts & Learning (JCAL) is seeking multidisciplinary artists to showcase original work for “An Afro-Latinx Mixtape,” a visual art exhibition conceived and curated by Adrian Bermeo. The show will exhibit artists’ visual interpretations of musical genres that have carried our ancestors, spoken for communities, and influenced global culture. Musical genres inspiring the exhibit include Hip-Hop, Jazz, Motown, Reggaeton, Rumba, Bomba, Salsa, Blues, Reggae, and more. As a celebration of Black and Latin@ musical genres, many being born in Africa, the Americas and Caribbean islands, this exhibition aims to represent a multinational combination of sounds and stories, as told by artists living in the undeniable melting pot that is New York City. The exhibition will be on display in JCAL’s galleries from July 26, 2024 to September 13, 2024 and is part of our Visual Voices curatorial initiative.

Juried by artist and architect members of the National Academy, the Abbey Mural Prize supports projects with grants ranging from $10,000 to $40,000. The Sugar Hill Children's Museum of Art & Storytelling is offering a 10-month residency for one visual artist. The selected artist will be granted a non-live in studio, a $10,000 honorarium, and the possibility of earning additional income by leading workshops for museum patrons. For this residency, the Museum is looking to award one visual artist whose artistic practice will resonate with children ages three to eight and their families, and reflect a relationship to the demographics, location, and/or history of Sugar Hill. This call is open to all artistes who have been professionally active for at least 2 years and with a visible commitment to their professional artistic practice and media. CHALE WOTE is an independently produced by a number of community-based, art collectives across Accra, Ghana.
