CIVIL RIGHTS SUMMER 2024: 70TH ANNIVERSARY OF BROWN V. BOARD OF EDUCATION
May 2024 represents the 70th anniversary of the landmark Brown v. Board of Education case. The City of Topeka is gearing up for a summer-long civil rights commemoration for 2024 and is committed to making the arts an integral component of that effort. ArtsConnect is currently seeking artists and/or artist collectives who are interested in undertaking the creation of collaborative and meaningful artwork centered on critical discussion of both the historic and contemporary heritage of the landmark Brown v. Board of Education decision, this project will be the centerpiece of a summer filled with community exploration—a creative, multi-disciplinary, multi-site experience that seeks to create a meaningful conversation about equity and justice."

CHARLOTTE DOUGLAS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
ASC is accepting qualifications from professional artists and professional artist teams for original and site-specific art commissions as part of the Concourse D Renovations for the Public Art Program at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT). This RFQ represents an opportunity for an artist or team of artists to create artwork that will provide visual interest and wayfinding for residents and visitors. MARTA FIVE POINTS PLATFORM ART
MARTA Artbound seeks four artists to create artworks that will be translated into large mosaic installations on the platforms at Five Points MARTA Station. The selected artists will work in tandem with a mosaic fabricator to bring their original artwork to its best translation in mosaic tile. The mosaic fabricator will produce and install the finished mosaic. The selected artist will only be responsible for creating the original artworks that the mosaics represent and will not have any responsibility for construction or installation of the finished mosaic tilework.

TROMPE O’LEI ART ADVOCACY BUS WRAP DESIGN RFQ
Create a wrap design for Central Florida Arts Advocates going to Tallahassee for Arts Advocacy Days beginning on March 21, 2023. The selected artist will receive $1,200. The bus will remain in circulation in Central Florida for approximately six months. Artwork must be submitted in a digital media format and should be representative of the thriving arts and culture scene in Central Florida. Artwork must be “instagrammable” using a trompe l'oeil effect giving greater depth to the work. The completed artwork will serve as background that would entice people to take photos and selfies. This artwork can contain words, but does not need to include a logo.

The Highland Park Art Grant will support the creation of one new, temporary artwork by a New York City-based emerging artist in Highland Park, Brooklyn. The resulting artwork will transform an area of the park into an art destination, with supporting events and programs. The grantee will receive an award of $25,000 to create their proposed artwork. CITY OF TAMPA RFQ MCKAY BAY TRANSFER STATION
The City of Tampa Arts & Cultural Affairs Division is seeking an artwork to be created for the façade of the new expansion of the McKay Bay Waste Transfer Station. Artists whose work builds public awareness about environmental issues are encouraged to apply. The new complex includes a Citizen's Drop-Off Area, 30,000 square foot tipping floor, which doubles the existing site's storage capacity and 5,600 square foot employee building, complete with offices, conference room, a new breakroom, and employee restrooms. This new facility offers an area at approximately 143’ x 48’ for a commissioned artwork.

Bronx Recognizes Its Own (BRIO) provides direct support to individual Bronx artists who create works in the literary, media, visual, and performing arts. BCA awards grants up to $5,000 to Bronx artists each year, based solely on artistic excellence. CI’s Curatorial Research Fellowships program reflects the organization’s commitment to the advancement of new knowledge and practices. The program supports curators’ research, travel, and the development of their professional networks, promoting experimentation, collaboration, and international engagement in the field. Conceived to foster independent research, ICI’s Curatorial Research Fellowships offer a framework tailored to each curator’s field of critical inquiry. MISSISSIPPI RIVER BASIN CURATORIAL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP
The Mississippi River Basin Curatorial Research Fellowship supports curators who focus on curatorial and artistic practices, and/or alternative histories of the region broadly defined by connections to the Mississippi River: an area encompassing 40% of the United States, which includes the watersheds of the Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Arkansas-White-Red, and Tennessee Rivers across 32 states. While being based in this region is not a requirement, current or past direct involvement with the area is preferred. Fellow will receive regular mentorship sessions virtually, as well as an award of $10,000 to encourage independent research study, writing, and/or the development of a curatorial project. This Fellowship is open to curators working independently or with institutional affiliations. Minimum 5 years of experience working with contemporary artists.

Artist Grant provides a $500 USD grant to one visual artist each grant cycle. Once an artist wins a grant, they may not apply again. We also award 2nd and 3rd place runners-up with $100 USD each. Runners-up may apply again in a future grant cycle. There are four grant cycles per year – January 15, April 15, July 15, and October 15. The deadline for the current grant cycle is January 15, 2023. There is a $25 application fee.

The mural space at Women’s Studio Workshop faces the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail (WVRT), which is an active outdoor public trail used primarily for walking, running and cycling.

GOTTELIEB FOUNDATION INDIVIDUAL SUPPORT GRANT
This grant is open to painters, sculptors and printmakers who have been engaged in a mature phase of their art for at least 20 years and who are currently in financial need. Last year, they awarded grants of $25,000 each to 20 artists.

WORK IN PROGRESS (WIP) INITIATIVE
The Third Annual En Foco Media Arts Fund: Work in Progress (WIP) Initiative: $2,000 Support Grant in collaboration with BronxNet is designed to support New York City artists of color who engage with Digital Media technologies within their art-making processes. The award will focus solely on works that need support toward the completion of a current work in progress, which demonstrates the highest quality of work and potential as determined by a panel of peers, and industry professionals. All innovative interpretations of Digital Media will be considered, requiring a critical digital aspect in both the process and product. Proposed projects where the final products are photographic in nature are ineligible for funding.

HAMILTON COUNTY/FINDLAY MARKET PARKING GARAGE MURAL
This 535-space public garage will include 15,000 square feet of retail space on the ground level that will be accessible to both Central Parkway to the west and Elder Street to the south. The perimeter façade aims to have the appearance of multiple buildings to provide scale to the overall building massing, while also relating to the surrounding neighborhood. Two of the south façade sections and two of the north façade sections will incorporate living walls. Additionally, as part of this planned development, the new garage will create dedicated space for a south-facing 4-story tall area, which is reserved for a unique and one-of-a-kind mural that will be designed by a professional artist. The artist/artist team selected to create the final design will produce and deliver design files that will be executed by a team of professional Teaching Artists and Youth Apprentices employed by ArtWorks

The Soros Equality Fellowship seeks to support individual leaders influencing the racial justice field. We understand the unique role an individual can play in rejecting old paradigms and presenting an affirmative vision for an inclusive multiracial democracy. EXHIBITION MANAGER/ ASSISTANT CURATOR
The AWAACC seeks a full-time visual arts and gallery management professional to coordinate the visual arts public programs, manage the permanent exhibit honoring the life and work of Pulitzer Prize winning playwright, August Wilson, and curate auxiliary gallery spaces. The Exhibition Manager/Assistant Curator will report to Senior Director of Programming, and will manage installation team and coordinate efforts with other departments and staff. This person in this role will develop materials to support all visual arts exhibits, lead gallery tours, develop scripts and train docents, gallery attendants, and volunteers to support The Writer’s Landscape exhibit as well as other visual arts endeavors presented by the AWAACC. The development and management of the internal and external visual arts footprint will be managed along with curators for the visual arts. The candidate should have a knowledge of African American and African diasporic art, exhibition design and ability to work with curators and artists.
