FIRE ISLAND RESIDENCY

Fire Island Artist Residency (FIAR), the first residency in the United States exclusively for artists identifying as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, non-binary, intersex, two-spirit or queer, annually accepts applications for its prestigious and internationally recognized summer program. Now in its 12th season in the secluded beach community of Cherry Grove, NY, an historic LGBTQ settlement of Fire Island, emerging artists will share a live/work space for a four-week program marked by intimate studio visits with, and public lectures by, renowned leaders in contemporary art, scholarship, activism and curation. NY COMMUNITY TRUST CAN LIER FELLOWSHIP FOR VISUAL ARTISTS

New York Community Trust Van Lier Fellowship for Visual Artists supports a cohort of 3 visual artists between the ages of 18 and 30 years old for a residency at Abrons Arts Center over the course of 21 months. Each fellow will be paired with a professional artist mentor who is an alum of the Abrons Arts Center Visual Artist AIRspace Residency program. The mentor will support the creative and professional development of the fellows during the residency period.

2024 BRONX MEMOIR PROJECT BOOK COVER ART

Bronx Council on the Arts is seeking a Bronx-based photographer and/or visual artist to design a cover for The Bronx Memoir Project Volume VIII, a multi-genre anthology written during the 2023-2024 Bronx Memoir Project Workshop Series. The Bronx Memoir Project offers free, professionally-led memoir-writing workshops across the Bronx. Aligned with BCA’s mission to elevate local narratives and stories, the Bronx Memoir Project helps amplify local voices and document Bronx history through an array of writing tools, along with the professional development needed for writers to publish on their own. The book will be self-published by the Bronx Council on the Arts and distributed through amazon.com.

EMPIRE STATE FELLOWS PROGRAM

The Empire State Fellows Program is a full-time leadership training program that prepares the next generation of talented professionals for careers as New York State policymakers. The incoming class of Empire State Fellows will serve from September 2024 to September 2026, and receive an annual salary of $85,000, plus a generous benefits package. At the end of the fellowship, a performance review process will identify Empire State Fellows that will be given the opportunity to continue to serve as leaders in New York State government after completing the program.

MFAH CORE RESIDENCY PROGRAM

The Core Program awards residencies to exceptional, highly motivated visual artists and critical writers who have completed their undergraduate or graduate training and are working to develop a sustainable practice. Residents engage with a wide range of leading artists, critics, curators, and art historians who are invited to meet individually with the residents, lead seminars, and deliver public lectures.

BAYARD RUSTIN RESIDENCY

Building on the social activist history of Penington’s founders, original board, and later residents, the Bayard Rustin Residency at Penington Friends House (PFH) is envisioned as an ongoing ladder to empowerment for Black Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) working to end Systemic Racism and to create a culture of anti-Racism and intersectional equality in the United States of America. It is also intended to extend and strengthen the wider Quaker witness to equality. Beginning in September of 2024, this residency will provide up to one year of room and board to a person who demonstrates a strong project that addresses ending Systemic Racism and who has a necessity to be in New York City for up to one year. Areas of focus of their work can include activism in the arts, policy change, human rights, community organizing, and other areas of activism focusing on ending racism and strengthening equality.

2024 NEW YORK ARTADIA AWARD

Artadia is now accepting applications for the 2024 New York City Awards from all visual artists who have lived and worked throughout the five boroughs: Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx, Queens, and Staten Island for a minimum of two years. Individual artists and collaboratives working in all visual media and at any stage in their career are strongly encouraged to apply. Awardees will be selected through a two-tier jury process that employs a panel of leading curators in the spring of 2024. This is the tenth New York City Award cycle.

DENVER ZOO RFQ

The City of Denver's Public Art Program seeks to commission an artist or artist team to create original public artwork(s) for the Denver Zoo, located in Denver, CO. The goals of the commission are to create artwork for the Denver Zoo’s new “Guest Experience Hub” that celebrates the Zoo as a place of curiosity, gathering, discovery, and inclusivity. An 11-member selection panel of community representatives, arts and design professionals, and civic leaders has been assembled to identify art opportunities and to select and recommend an artist or artist team for this project. The selection panel has identified a 1500 square-foot outdoor garden plaza inside the future Guest Experience Hub for potential art opportunities, and will select one artist or artist team for the allocated total budget of approximately $184,000.00 USD.

2024 LOS MUROS ON MAIN:MIDVALE CITY MURAL FESTIVAL

The Midvale City RDA is working to revitalize Midvale’s Historic Main Street by highlighting the area’s unique culture, identity, history, and community spirit once again by transforming Midvale Main into an arts, culture, and food district. Activating the street by inviting artists, vendors, and visitors to the street is just the start. In the beginning stages of establishing this district, this festival is a vital part of the revitalization process. This year's call is open to all artists 18 years of age and older. While welcoming artists of all skill levels and backgrounds, applicants must have prior mural painting experience to be considered. Midvale City is dedicated to fostering art-focused careers and providing transparent opportunities for the art community. All artists, regardless of background or identity, are encouraged to apply.

VILLAGE ART PLAZA MURALS

The design’s theme(s) are open to the artist’s vision, but since the murals are within the Village Art Plaza the main inspiration/theme should be ART! The design must be family-friendly and suitable for the public realm and capture the interest of those that drive, ride, and walk by. The design should represent the City’s identity, which is a warm and inviting environment that celebrates and embraces a diverse and culturally rich population. The City also requires the designs to be unique to the City and not have been utilized in other places. Designs must be appropriate for display in public spaces and viewing by a general audience. Designs cannot include the following: political or religious content; anything that could be deemed controversial; breach of intellectual property; trademarks; images of illegal activity; advertisements; logos; signage; or promotion of any business, organization, individual, or product.Local South Florida artists preferred but not required.

JEROME HILL ARTIST FELLOWSHIP

Jerome Hill Artist Fellowships support early career Minnesota- and New York City-based generative artists who take creative risks in exploring, expanding, imagining, or re-imagining creative practices and experiences; reclaiming or reviving traditional forms in original ways; and/or questioning, challenging, or disrupting cultural norms. Jerome Foundation seeks to support artists who are creating, developing, and presenting imaginative work that is deeply considered, presented with technical skill, is compelling, and offers a distinctive vision and authentic voice.

ANONYMOUS WAS A WOMAN ENVIRONMENT ART GRANT

The AWAW EAG will support environmental art projects that inspire thought, action, and ethical engagement. Projects should not only point at problems, but aim to engage an environmental issue at some scale. Proposals should illustrate thorough consideration of a project’s ecological and social ethics. Projects that explore interdependence, relationships, and systems through Indigenous and ancestral practices are encouraged to apply.

HENRIETTA LACKS MURAL

Nosreme Baltimore, in collaboration with the Midtown East Community Association and the Henrietta Lacks Legacy Group, is pleased to announce our call for artists for the Henrietta Lacks mural project in the Middle East Baltimore neighborhood. Our mural project aims to celebrate the life and legacy of Henrietta Lacks, whose immortal HeLa cells have contributed significantly to medical research and advancements. Henrietta Lacks' story is one of resilience, scientific breakthroughs, and ethical considerations, making her an important figure not only in medical history but also in the ongoing conversation about medical ethics and social justice. As weinvite artists to participate in this project, we seek qualifications that capture the essence of Henrietta Lacks' story and its significance to the community. OPEN CALL: VISUAL VOICES

Jamaica Center for Arts & Learning (JCAL) is seeking multidisciplinary artists to showcase original work for “An Afro-Latinx Mixtape,” a visual art exhibition conceived and curated by Adrian Bermeo. The show will exhibit artists’ visual interpretations of musical genres that have carried our ancestors, spoken for communities, and influenced global culture. Musical genres inspiring the exhibit include Hip-Hop, Jazz, Motown, Reggaeton, Rumba, Bomba, Salsa, Blues, Reggae, and more. As a celebration of Black and Latin@ musical genres, many being born in Africa, the Americas and Caribbean islands, this exhibition aims to represent a multinational combination of sounds and stories, as told by artists living in the undeniable melting pot that is New York City. The exhibition will be on display in JCAL’s galleries from July 26, 2024 to September 13, 2024 and is part of our Visual Voices curatorial initiative.

STROKE OF GENIUS FUND

ABBEY MURAL PRIZE

Juried by artist and architect members of the National Academy, the Abbey Mural Prize supports projects with grants ranging from $10,000 to $40,000. Grants are awarded to create or restore public murals, especially those that promote accessibility and serve local audiences. While murals are conventionally defined as paintings or mosaics on a wall, the prize also encourages proposals that broaden and expand the definition of what a contemporary mural can be.

O+ FESTIVAL

The O+ Festival is a celebration of art, music and wellness that offers access to health care for its participating artists and musicians while providing the community with an opportunity to experience the healing and transformative power of art in all forms. O+ (pronounced Oh Positive) fosters physical, mental and social well-being by connecting visual artists and musicians directly with a coalition of healthcare/wellness providers and resources in a shared vision to nurture the individual and the community. WOLFSONIAN CREATIVE FELLOWSHIP

Wolfsonian creative fellowships invite artists of all kinds—visual artists, designers, performers, writers, filmmakers, and musicians—to immerse themselves in the Wolfsonian collection and draw visual, conceptual or storytelling inspiration from its wide range of historical materials. SUGARHILL CHILDREN'S MUSEUM ARTIST RESIDENCY

The Sugar Hill Children's Museum of Art & Storytelling is offering a 10-month residency for one visual artist. The selected artist will be granted a non-live in studio, a $10,000 honorarium, and the possibility of earning additional income by leading workshops for museum patrons. For this residency, the Museum is looking to award one visual artist whose artistic practice will resonate with children ages three to eight and their families, and reflect a relationship to the demographics, location, and/or history of Sugar Hill. The selected artist should be comfortable interacting with children and families, and entertaining conversations with curious museum visitors about their studio practice.

CHALEWOTE 2024 STREET ART FESTIVAL

This call is open to all artistes who have been professionally active for at least 2 years and with a visible commitment to their professional artistic practice and media. [Having studied art is NOT a requirement; we accept applications from self-taught professional artists with at least two years constant working experience]. CHALE WOTE is an independently produced by a number of community-based, art collectives across Accra, Ghana. International Artists selected to participate are encouraged to apply for funding from their home countries or other sources to support their travel, living costs and, where possible, funding for the cost of production for their work. ASSOCIATE CURATOR

The MET is currently hiring for an Associate Curator. In the role will foster new research, scholarship, acquisitions, and displays to highlight, complicate, and resituate this landmark period in art history; and you will seek deeper inroads into it that center the contributions of artists of color and women. You will work alongside colleagues at the Museum engaged in this ongoing work.


STUDIO MANAGER

The MET is looking for a Studio Manager. In the role, you will provide overall project management for the content production studio that you co-lead with managing producer(s). You ensure that digital content projects are appropriately resourced and delivered on-time and within scope. You partner with colleagues across the museum to ensure that project goals are accurately articulated and facilitate creative conversations for projects.   


ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

The Assistant Director ensures the effective and efficient delivery of daily operations, programs and services for the Latinx Project, including the development and implementation of its communication, community outreach, and assessment strategies. Partnering with a team of full-time staff, graduate students, and others, the Assistant Director will work with faculty and community stakeholders to create University and external partnerships and synergy among programming and initiatives, including exhibits, public humanities programs, and virtual events. The Assistant Director will also support the Founding Director with the development and implementation of innovative strategies for funding to support arts and culture programming that further the Latinx Project's mission.


DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY MEDIA

BRIC seeks a Director of Community Media to further actualize the BRIC mission, vision and strategic plan through programmatic departments at BRIC including: Brooklyn Free Speech Community Producer Services and Community Producer Services.  The Director of Community Media will also play a key role in managing the relationships with the cable companies and exploring revenue opportunities.


PROJECT MANAGER

Places Journal is seeking a Project Manager who will be involved in every stage of the article series “An Unfinished Atlas,” a new initiative supported by a grant from the Humanities in Places program of the Mellon Foundation.The Project Manager will work closely with Places editors and the four senior scholars comprising the project’s Editorial Advisory Committee to plan, produce, and publicize each monthly installment and the series as a whole. This position is designed for an early-career writer or scholar who is excited by the possibilities of public scholarship, and eager to immerse themselves in all aspects of editorial production.


CULTURAL DEVELOPMENT FUND PANELIST OPEN CALL

We invite your engagement as applicants and panelists as we bring back our largest-ever group of applicants (1,200 expected) and panelists (240). Information on the CDF application will be detailed on the “Applying” page of our website.For the FY23 cycle, we hope to identify panelists with a broad range of expertise within the cultural workforce including artists, teaching artists, board members, executive leaders, education staff, and marketing and community engagement professionals.Panel service will include independent review and scoring for 20-30    applications, followed by participation in a secondary review with other panelists in a single-day virtual panel  held in summer 2022.

PRUDENTIAL COMMUNITY GRANT PROGRAM

Prudential has proudly partnered with The Community Foundation of New Jersey to manage the Prudential Community Grants Program. The Prudential Community Grants Program will provide local organizations and individuals with micro grants to support projects that create vibrancy in their neighborhoods. These community-based projects have the potential to make neighborhoods more stable and empower residents to make changes they want to see. Local change makers and leaders often have the solutions to support their neighborhoods, but typically do not have access to financial resources.Who can apply: Newark residents and Newark-based organizations with an operating budget under $500,000.

This is a crucial role which will collaborate with staff across the organization to ensure The LP is consistently fully operational for work and programming, both on-site and virtual. TRANSITIONAL ART PROJECT: CAMDEN WALTER RAND

NJ Transit and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts are pleased to present the TRANSITional Art Project; Camden’s Walter Rand Transportation Center. This exciting project seeks to select 3 (three) visual artists (or artist teams), who are current residents of New Jersey and live in Camden County. Preference will be considered for artists with a close connection to Camden (living or working in the city of Camden). Qualified artists are encouraged to submit examples of their art that will be exhibited as part of the temporary art installations at the Walter Rand Transportation Center. The full project will be unveiled in September of 2023 and will be on display through November 2023. This call is one part of the TRANSITional Art Project in Camden, NJ Transit. There is an additional call for a temporary exhibition of digital prints using the railway lamp posts. See that call for more information.

191 ST TUNNEL RFP

DOT Art is soliciting artist proposals to beautify a pedestrian tunnel located in Washington Heights, Manhattan at 191st Street and Broadway (the “Tunnel”). DOT Art will select up to four (4) artists to develop design treatments to be painted within the Tunnel with community and volunteer support. The new designs will create an attractive corridor for pedestrians walking to and from the 1 train at 191st Street. The Tunnel is located within the Washington Heights community connecting Broadway and St. Nicholas Avenue to the 191st Street station. The Station is one of the deepest in the New York City Subway system sitting approximately 180 feet below street level. Although the Tunnel connects to the MTA Subway System, the Tunnel is mapped as a street and is thus owned and maintained by DOT.


FOUNDER'S PLAZA MURAL

The Brighton Cultural Arts Commission is requesting proposals from professional artists to design and install a mural in Founder’s Plaza located in Brighton on Bridge Street between 1st Avenue and Main Street.  The plaza has a large wall on the south side of the plaza, on the Wells Fargo Bank. The mural can be 50’ wide X 15’ high.  The wall is larger than this area.  The mural can bleed into the areas beyond the initial size.  The commission is looking at a proposal that will depict the history of Brighton in a unique way.  The history should show the past as well as the current.  Brighton began as a railroad town and developed into a farming community.  One of the main industries was a Kuner vegetable processing and packaging factory.  Brighton continues to be a vegetable farming area.  The current history of Brighton is a renewable energy corridor with wind energy manufacturing and a newly acquired lithium battery manufacturer.

ARTTABLE FELLOW

The ArtTable Fellowship program addresses the marked lack of diversity in arts employment, providing quality real-work experiences and mentorship for women-identifying and non-binary emerging professionals who self-identify as being from cultural, racial, ethnic, and/or socio-economic backgrounds generally underrepresented in the field. Each fellow will be awarded a $4,000 stipend for the five-to-eight-week commitment.

RACIAL EQUITY ART PROJECT RFQ

The City of San Mateo, CA is excited to announce that we are seeking professional and/or emerging artists to complete a Racial Equity Art Project in Downtown San Mateo which will be painted in the center of one or both of the Pedestrian Malls on B Street in Downtown San Mateo. We are looking for artists to design a painting that represents San Mateo’s diversity and commitment to racial equity. The artist selection will occur through a multi-phased process. The first step in the process is this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) where we are inviting artists to submit their portfolio of work and their approach to this project. The City’s Civic Arts Committee anticipates choosing five finalists that will receive a $1,000 stipend to develop a proposal, including a rendering of the artwork for the site. ASPHALT ART ACTIVATION

As part of NYC DOT’s efforts to make our streets more pedestrian friendly, the agency continues to reclaim underutilized street space for pedestrian use whether it be a curb extension to create larger waiting areas at corners with a more direct crosswalk; a slip lane closure to encourage pedestrian circulation along the curb line adjacent to a heavily trafficked sidewalk; or an entire street transformation from that of a thoroughfare for cars into an active public space for pedestrians to stop and linger. All interested professional architects, artists and/or graphic designers (the “Artists”) are eligible to submit past work in response to this Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to be selected to develop and install a final design at one of a series of asphalt street spaces (the “Project Sites”) designated by NYC DOT.

CIVIL RIGHTS SUMMER 2024: 70TH ANNIVERSARY OF BROWN V. BOARD OF EDUCATION

May 2024 represents the 70th anniversary of the landmark Brown v. Board of Education case. The City of Topeka is gearing up for a summer-long civil rights commemoration for 2024 and is committed to making the arts an integral component of that effort. ArtsConnect is currently seeking artists and/or artist collectives who are interested in undertaking the creation of collaborative and meaningful artwork centered on critical discussion of both the historic and contemporary heritage of the landmark Brown v. Board of Education decision, this project will be the centerpiece of a summer filled with community exploration—a creative, multi-disciplinary, multi-site experience that seeks to create a meaningful conversation about equity and justice."

MARTA FIVE POINTS PLATFORM ART

MARTA Artbound seeks four artists to create artworks that will be translated into large mosaic installations on the platforms at Five Points MARTA Station. The selected artists will work in tandem with a mosaic fabricator to bring their original artwork to its best translation in mosaic tile. The mosaic fabricator will produce and install the finished mosaic. Create a wrap design for Central Florida Arts Advocates going to Tallahassee for Arts Advocacy Days beginning on March 21, 2023. The selected artist will receive $1,200. The bus will remain in circulation in Central Florida for approximately six months. Artwork must be submitted in a digital media format and should be representative of the thriving arts and culture scene in Central Florida. Artwork must be “instagrammable” using a trompe l'oeil effect giving greater depth to the work. The completed artwork will serve as background that would entice people to take photos and selfies. The Highland Park Art Grant will support the creation of one new, temporary artwork by a New York City-based emerging artist in Highland Park, Brooklyn. CITY OF TAMPA RFQ MCKAY BAY TRANSFER STATION

The City of Tampa Arts & Cultural Affairs Division is seeking an artwork to be created for the façade of the new expansion of the McKay Bay Waste Transfer Station. Artists whose work builds public awareness about environmental issues are encouraged to apply. The new complex includes a Citizen's Drop-Off Area, 30,000 square foot tipping floor, which doubles the existing site's storage capacity and 5,600 square foot employee building, complete with offices, conference room, a new breakroom, and employee restrooms. BRONX RECOGNIZES ITS OWN

Bronx Recognizes Its Own (BRIO) provides direct support to individual Bronx artists who create works in the literary, media, visual, and performing arts. BCA awards grants up to $5,000 to Bronx artists each year, based solely on artistic excellence. Winners complete a one-time public service activity known as Artists for Community Enrichment (ACE), an essential component required of all BRIO recipients to be completed within a year of receiving the award. MISSISSIPPI RIVER BASIN CURATORIAL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP

The Mississippi River Basin Curatorial Research Fellowship supports curators who focus on curatorial and artistic practices, and/or alternative histories of the region broadly defined by connections to the Mississippi River: an area encompassing 40% of the United States, which includes the watersheds of the Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Arkansas-White-Red, and Tennessee Rivers across 32 states. While being based in this region is not a requirement, current or past direct involvement with the area is preferred. ARTIST GRANT: CYCLE 1

Artist Grant provides a $500 USD grant to one visual artist each grant cycle. Once an artist wins a grant, they may not apply again. We also award 2nd and 3rd place runners-up with $100 USD each. Runners-up may apply again in a future grant cycle. There are four grant cycles per year – January 15, April 15, July 15, and October 15. The deadline for the current grant cycle is January 15, 2023. There is a $25 application fee.

The Third Annual En Foco Media Arts Fund: Work in Progress (WIP) Initiative: $2,000 Support Grant in collaboration with BronxNet is designed to support New York City artists of color who engage with Digital Media technologies within their art-making processes. The award will focus solely on works that need support toward the completion of a current work in progress, which demonstrates the highest quality of work and potential as determined by a panel of peers, and industry professionals. HAMILTON COUNTY/FINDLAY MARKET PARKING GARAGE MURAL

This 535-space public garage will include 15,000 square feet of retail space on the ground level that will be accessible to both Central Parkway to the west and Elder Street to the south. The perimeter façade aims to have the appearance of multiple buildings to provide scale to the overall building massing, while also relating to the surrounding neighborhood. Two of the south façade sections and two of the north façade sections will incorporate living walls. Additionally, as part of this planned development, the new garage will create dedicated space for a south-facing 4-story tall area, which is reserved for a unique and one-of-a-kind mural that will be designed by a professional artist. The artist/artist team selected to create the final design will produce and deliver design files that will be executed by a team of professional Teaching Artists and Youth Apprentices employed by ArtWorks

The University of Houston Katherine G. McGovern College of the Arts and Project Row Houses (PRH) have developed a fellowship program supported by Suzanne Deal Booth that builds on leadership, community-engaged art, and social practice projects. ZION NATIONAL PARKS ARTIST IN RESIDENCE

The Artist-in-Residence Program at Zion National Park offers professional artists the opportunity to pursue their artistic discipline while being surrounded by the park's inspiring landscape. The selected artists will be given rent-free use of a furnished park house in the main canyon for 4 weeks. Artists must be self-sufficient and provide all of their necessary supplies. Selected artists will receive a $500 reimbursement to assist with travel and supply expenses when their donated piece of work has been received by the park. This call applies to all sessions offered in 2023 with up to 3 sessions available. All submissions will be reviewed by our panel during the first round. Artists moving on to the final round will be contacted for interviews that will be recorded in August-September and final selections will be made by the end of October. There is a $40 fee to apply.

PUBLIC ART FEST

ArtsWestchester is proud to be the recipient of a $500,000 grant to support economic development and promote tourism in the City of White Plains through the arts.The Market New York grant from I LOVE NY/New York State’s Division of Tourism was awarded to ArtsWestchester through the State's Regional Economic Development Council initiative. The funding supports the multi-day Serious Fun Arts Festival, a 5-day public art happening taking over White Plains from October 12-16, 2022. The event showcases the talent of the region’s outstanding pool of creative workers, including visual, performing and literary artists. Tri-state area artists are invited to submit their current work and public art visions for potential inclusion in the festival. ArtsWestchester seeks qualifications and proposals from visual artists and artist collectives for the Serious Fun Arts Festival, an initiative that will culminate in a 5-day public arts festival from October 12-16, 2022, featuring a public art walk, open studios, performing arts, art and dance parties, programming for families and more. Elements of the art walk will remain as an attraction and display of White Plain’s cultural vibrancy after the festival.

The Quick Grant program awards reimbursement funds up to $600 to California artists, creatives, cultural practitioners, and cultural producers, and San Francisco/San Jose nonprofit arts administrators to participate in professional development activities that build administrative capacity, hone business skills, and strengthen the financial sustainability of the grantee’s practice, area of cultural production, or arts organization. NATIONAL PR DAY PARADE Scholarship NFT Fund Raiser

The National Puerto Rican Day Parade (@PRParadeNYC) takes place annually along Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, on the second Sunday in June, in honor of the nearly 8 million inhabitants of Puerto Rico and over 4 million people of Puerto Rican birth or heritage residing in the United States. NPRDP has teamed up with @MowsseHowsse, an NFT (Non-Fungible Token) Marketplace, a fully curated NFT platform by creatives for creatives. Together they will be launching an NFT collection highlighting Puerto Rican artists established and up and coming to raise money for the NPRDP Scholarship Fund. This collection of NFTs will feature artworks that draw inspiration from iconic symbols of Puerto Rican culture: The Coqui, El Morro, Puerto Rican Nature, the Flag and Culture in general.

PUBLIC ART RESIDENCY GRANT (FALL)

This Public Art Mural Grant is a four-week residency in which an artist will create an original work for WSW’s mural wall. The mural space at Women’s Studio Workshop faces the Wallkill Valley Rail Trail (WVRT), which is an active outdoor public trail used primarily for walking, running and cycling. We estimate that approximately 3,000-5,000 WVRT users pass by our facilities on a monthly basis, many coming onto our campus to view the current mural, or inquire about the organization. The mural space is 10′ x 23.5′ and overlooks our new, ADA accessible patio and community gathering area. In 2021 and beyond, we hope to build new programs that will bring people together here and connect them with the art and artists at WSW.

GIVING LIGHT OPEN CALL

BronxArtSpace (BAS) invites applicants with a strong affiliation with the Bronx to submit proposals for this thematic group exhibition to be presented in BAS’ new space on 700 Manida at Hunts Point. The curators Beverly Emers and Kimberly Roa Tejera are inviting artists, activists and the community to join them in solidarity to explore solutions to gun violence through art and food justice while honoring the spirit of family and food as prevention. COOPERSTOWN PUBLIC ART PROJECT

Destination Marketing Corporation (DMC), better known as This Is Cooperstown, is partnering with local tourism businesses to add a cluster of murals throughout the greater Cooperstown area. DMC is seeking proposals for creative concepts from skilled artists. Often times, the thriving art scene is overshadowed by Cooperstown’s baseball reputation. Through the use of colorful murals, DMC aims to showcase how baseball and art can beautifully coexist. The Andy Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant supports emerging and established writers who write about contemporary visual art. Ranging from $15,000 to $50,000 in three categories—articles, books, and short-form writing—the grants support projects addressing both general and specialized art audiences, from short reviews for magazines and newspapers to in-depth scholarly studies. LUCE INDIGENOUS KNOWLEDGE FELLOWSHIP

First Nations will award 10 fellowships of $75,000 each to 10 outstanding Native knowledge holders and knowledge makers engaged in meaningful work that benefits Indigenous people and communities in either reservation and/or urban settings. These fellowships support the work of Native knowledge holders and knowledge makers as they significantly advance their work and spark transformative change in their communities. MURAL EXHIBIT: IDENTITY

Allez! is looking for 7-14 artists (or art teams!) to create smaller mural works which exemplify the theme: "Identity". This show will have a single word “theme” to give the artists a jumping off point, but still keep the show cohesive. Artists are invited to create on smaller quarter or half panels (see our Layout options below), so that we can feature as many as 14 artists on the wall, and is a great option for artists just starting out in the mural arts. EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

The Newark Community Museum & Center for Restorative Justice (Museum) will transform the City’s historic 1st Police Precinct - the site of the beating of taxi driver, John Smith, by police officers which sparked the City’s 1967 rebellion - into a site for community healing and restoration. Housed alongside the newly created Office of Violence Prevention, Trauma and Recovery (OVPTR), the Museum will use storytelling and artist-led programming and exhibitions to interpret Newark’s history of resistance, culture, and empowerment to educate and inspire a more just and equitable society. The Museum seeks a visionary leader to serve as its inaugural Director & Chief Curator (Director). The Director will work closely with the Mayor’s Office and the MAC in developing and articulating the vision and strategic direction of the Museum and its realization in the 1st Precinct. Thereafter, the Director will be responsible for curatorial leadership and overall operations including exhibitions, fiscal leadership, public programming, partnerships, and communications.

The City of Norwalk Connecticut and the Norwalk Arts Commission is soliciting a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for artists and artists’ teams for a site-specific outdoor public art project that will be installed at the Metro North Underpass at Monroe Street in Norwalk, CT. ART ON TRAIN ARTIST OPEN CALL

"Since 2019, artist Ludo ( @lud.artwork) has organized an unique event. Every year, he provides paint, a place to camp, food, and a train wholecar. BOARD OF DIRECTORS NOMINATIONS

The Grantmakers in the Arts’ call for board of directors is open. Board members attend meetings three times per year, in addition to the annual conference, and are active in developing policies and guiding programs, recruiting members, and when appropriate, raising funds that support GIA’s service to the field. This year, two to four new members will be recommended to the GIA membership for election. New board members will serve a three-year term beginning January 1, 2023 and can serve two terms.

OPEN CALLL FOR CIVIC ART: INTL TERMINAL AT GEORGE BUSH AIRPORT

The Houston Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs (MOCA), through the City of Houston’s Civic Art Program and on behalf of the Houston Airport System (HAS), is requesting submissions of qualifications from artists and artist teams to design, fabricate and install five major permanent works of public art for the new international terminal at the George Bush Intercontinental Airport. Five separate Requests for Qualifications to commission artworks for the following key architectural spaces in the new international terminal are below.

TREE OF LIFE GRANT

For the majority of late-career artists, professional opportunities diminish as the artists continue to age. The Tree of Life seeks to provide support for senior visual artists through the Individual Artist Grant. This grant can be for new work or special projects, studio space, website creation, cataloging art and artist’s history, archiving and storage of art, exhibitions, and catalog publication. Tree of Life welcomes applications from artists of recognizable artistic merit, age 60 and over.

EAGLE RIVER ELEMENTARY OPEN CALL

The Art Selection Jury intends to commission three separate art installations totaling $67,000 to be permanently installed throughout Eagle River Elementary School in Eagle River Alaska.

ART SEEN FESTIVAL OPEN CALL

The Art Seen Festival is a creative movement celebrating the public arts and mural making in an effort to bring more vibrancy to the community. Public art gives the community a collective voice and a way to express values while it brings awareness of and beauty to both the physical and cultural landscape of the city. The festival committee is seeking family friendly mural designs in any artistic style. They are looking for captivating designs that are visually appealing and represent the community we foster. NATIVE ARTS & CULTURES FOUNDATION’S PROPOSAL CALL

"Native Arts and Cultures Foundation’s (NACF) The Constellations That Guide Us conference committee invites session proposals for the 2022 National Native Arts Gathering to be held in Portland, Oregon, September 14-17, 2022. NACF is accepting proposals for sessions that support the conference theme and uplift Native artists’ voices as leaders in social justice efforts. Priority will be given to submissions that center the voices of Native artists and cultural bearers, and are solution-focused around issues in Native communities."

THE SPRING CIRC ARTIST GRANT

The Circ Artist Grants are open to emerging, mid-career, and professional artists in an international open call, several times throughout the year. There is a $25 nonrefundable fee.

The Grants for Visual Artist award provides direct support to under-recognized artists 21 years or older. There is a $15 application fee.

POMPEI ARTIST OPEN CALL

Pompei Street Art Festival 2022 is hosting an open call. The call is aimed to identify Street Artists of different nationalities who will be invited to the City of Pompei on 23 – 24 – 25 of September. The theme of the event is dedicated to the origins and history of antiquity, "The rediscovery, as a form of rebirth and projection of an ancient civilization.

The NOT REAL ART Grant for Artists is a $12,000 annual award designed to empower the practice of 6 contemporary artists, each of whom receive $2,000. Each recipient gets to share their story and promote with exclusive, in-depth featured interviews on the NOT REAL ART podcast and blog. And, whether or not you receive our grant, every applicant automatically qualifies to be included in future blog stories, newsletters and our artist marketing database.

THE CENTER FOR BLACK, BROWN AND QUEER STUDIES FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

The Center for Black, Brown, and Queer Studies (BBQ+) is an independent Center dedicated to interdisciplinary research, pedagogy, and mentorship in critical race, Indigenous, postcolonial, and queer studies. Our fellowship brings together a diverse group of scholars from undergraduates to postgraduates working across these fields in a collaborative and supportive environment.

JEROME HILL ARTIST FELLOWSHIP

Jerome Hill Artist Fellowships support Minnesota and New York City-based artists across 8 artistic fields who generate new work that takes creative risks in expanding, questioning, experimenting with or re-imagining conventional artistic forms. This Fellowship supports artists who embrace their roles as part of a larger community of artists and citizens, and consciously work with a sense of service, whether aesthetic, social or both. Support is directed to artists who are at an early point in their careers in creating such work, generally in their 2nd–10th year as a generative artist.

TRANSFORMATION AWARD

The Leeway Transformation Award (LTA) provides unrestricted annual awards of $15,000 to women and trans* artists and cultural producers living in greater Philadelphia who create art for social change and have done so for the past five years or more, demonstrating a long-term commitment to social change work. The award is unrestricted (it is not project-based) and open to artists and cultural producers working in any medium, including traditional and nontraditional as well as multimedia and experimental forms.

CAFE ROYAL CULTURAL GRANT

Café Royal Cultural Foundation NYC will award an exhibition/project grant to artists creating paintings, drawings, sculptures and photographs.

HOPPER PRIZE

The Hopper Prize awards 12 individual artist grants annually. The grants are dispersed twice annually via an open call. They award 6 individual artist grants in the Spring and 6 in the Fall. During each open call, 2 artists will receive $3,500 and 4 artists will receive $1,000."

STUDIO SPACE RESIDENCY

NARS’ mission is geared towards creating community while fostering expansion and exchange of artistic and cultural practices. With this in mind NARS has decided to dedicate part of the NARS Studios to 2-3 individual NY based artists. and creative health of the artists at urgent times like these. The subsidized studio space is available for 3 months, and is a work-space only. Throughout this time, artists will have 24/7 access to their spaces and will be able to liaise with a diverse artistic community. The selection of artists works through a Rolling Application System, and is juried by NARS Staff and other arts professionals.

#CREATEBECAUSEWECARE

Big Screen Plaza have started #CreateBecauseWeCare, a public art contest to broadcast all-day messages of support, thanks, and hope on our 30-foot digital billboard in the heart of New York City! Big Screen Plaza is a 10,000 sq. ft. public plaza located in Manhattan between the Empire State Building and Madison Square Garden that features a 30 ft. HD digital screen.
