Hi Arts’s open call for qualifications to create artwork on El Barrio 109 Art Space. In selecting artists with experience and interest in community-engaged art, we will offer them a canvas to work freely and create an organic reflection of their lived experiences rather than set restrictions and expectations on their voice.

Eligibility: Graffiti writers, Muralists, Street Artist who self identify as Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC), People of the Global Majority (PGM), womxn, nonbinary, and gender nonconforming

Abrons Arts Center & Henry Street Settlement will support 10 artists and arts organizers who are displaced tribal members of the Lenape disapora with $500 in unrestricted funds.

UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA’S INSTITUTE OF BLACK CULTURE

The University of Florida’s Institute of Black Culture is hosting a call for Qualifications for a large interior wall inside the college’s Institute of Black Culture. Qualified artists met 2 of the following criteria: the artist's works are included in private, public, corporate or museum collections; the artist has received awards, grants or fellowships; the artist has completed other public commissions on a similar scale; the artist has participated in exhibitions at major museums or galleries.

SAVEARTSPACE OPEN CALL

Curated by artists, Swoon & Gianni Lee, are hosting an open call for artists to submit work addressing systemic racism to be featured in a multi-city public art exhibition, Whistling in the Dark, on billboards in New York City, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia.

STOREFRONT RESIDENCY OPEN CALL

Open call for for visual artists, writers, poets, activists, filmmakers, curators, designers, architects, makers & tinkerers or a pair of artistic collaborators to create a window display for the storefront at 26 Mott Street in honor of 清明 Qingming, tomb-sweeping day, centering the theme of grief and grieving. This is a funded 6-month residency from February 1 - July 1, 2021.

OTTAWA O-TRAIN PUBLIC ART PROGRAM

The O-Train Reflection/Inflection Arts Response Project will take a local and global approach to explore the transition of the site community. This will include, but not be limited to: investigating and demonstrating, through cultural expression how a community moves within a changing environment; how people respond to disruption through new connections and new ways of being. The Project will demonstrate how relationships are affected or strengthened by moving in changing landscapes - from one land to another land; what stories/memories emerge from community movement, and how connections are maintained, changed or built. Artists and artist collectives are asked to submit a proposal.

DESIGN TRUST FELLOWS

Design Trust for Public Space, in partnership with New York City Department of Small Business Services (SBS), will award four fellowships for Neighborhood Commons in policy, design, engagement and communications. The project, Neighborhood Commons: Plazas, Sidewalks & Beyond will explore opportunities to improve the current model of public space governance and programming. The fellows will work with BIDs, CBOs, local businesses to support local economies, develop & produce a guide of better practices for both the City’s and community partners’ stewardship of public spaces.

KEVIN ZEESE EMERGING ACTIVIST FUND

The Kevin Zeese Emerging Activists Fund will provide a grant of $20,000 to one or more activists or a small grassroots organization each year that is in line with the life work and philosophy of Kevin Zeese. The emphasis for grantees will be on people or frontline grassroots organizations working for economic, racial or environmental justice or peace.

HOTEL MURAL RFQ

LexArts Inc. in association with Deseo Capital Management seeks artists to create a public mural on the side and front faces of a future lifestyle boutique hotel on Harrodsburg Road. This artwork will create a visual landmark within the community. Our goal is to commission proposals by three experienced public artists for the site with the expectation of realizing one of the proposals in spring 2021.

QUEENS MUSEUM ARTISTS-IN-RESIDENCE

The Queens Museum is embarking on a “Year of Uncertainty” (YoU) and will be centered around themes of Care, Repair, Play, Justice, and The Future . For the 18 month long program, participating artists and producers will work with staff members and co-thinkers to identify ways to connect their work, interests, and expertise across the museum leading to an exhibition and public programming.

BICENTENNIAL LEGENDS -

Calling all artists who specialize in portraits. Indianapolis Arts Council is seeking artists interested in creating large scale murals of Indianapolis legends. Kicking off with Marshall “Major” Taylor they plan to honor him and other individuals whose talent, courage, and humanity helped make Indianapolis/Indiana as the city celebrates its 200th especially highlighting those who made important contributions but were overlooked because of their race, gender, economic status, or social class.

DENVER PUBLIC LIBRARY

The City of Denver’s Public Art Program seeks to commission an artist or team of artists to create original public artworks for the Denver Art Museum and Denver Central Public Library Campus. The campus is located in the heart of Denver and the Golden Triangle Creative District. A selection panel of community representatives, arts professionals, and civic leaders has been assembled to identify art opportunities, and to select and recommend an artist or artist team for this project. The selection panel has identified at least three exterior sites for potential art opportunities and will select one artist or artist team for the allocated total budget of approximately $600,000 USD.

The Hunger Coalition

The Hunger Coalition seeks artists to design and paint murals on their new building headquarters located at 110 Honeysuckle Street, Bellevue, Idaho. Three separate artists will be selected to complete a mural, which will be placed on a feature wall of a high-profile project with thousands of visitors annually.

YMCA WORCESTER INDOOR MURAL -

The mural is to be a tribute to the outgoing executive director, Linda Cavioli’s, racial justice and gender equality legacy. Under her leadership, from the boardroom to the front lines, racial justice became the hallmark of YWCA of Central Massachusetts operations. The proposal selected will be one that best reflects the essence of her legacy.

Eligibility: New England / New York area. All applicants will be accepted but strongly encourages Women, Black artists (AA, Afro-Latina) of the African Diaspora, and other artists of color to apply.

DAVID PRIZE -

The David Prize is a celebration of individuals and ideas to create a better, brighter New York City. Open to any individual working in the five boroughs, the Prize welcomes those with the grit and vision to change our communities, our culture and our future for good. As long as you have a clear idea of how your work improves our city, and what you need to get it done, we’ll consider it. Individuals that win The David Prize can be affiliated with organizations or companies, but the focus is on great people doing great things outside of established pathways and projects.

Black Love Blooms is planning a Juneteenth BLB with groups in Louisville, Kentucky to honor the life of Breonna Taylor and black life as a constant source of beauty, resilience, dignity, and magic. The City of Lynn, the Downtown Lynn Cultural District (DTLCD), the Lynn Office of Community Development and the Lynn Public Arts Commission (LPAC) are seeking an artistic concept for a signature work of art at Lynn’s Mt. Vernon and Exchange Street Plaza. The goal of this project is to install artwork that reflects the spirit of Lynn, enlivens the gateway to the DTLCD as a destination, and increases use of the Plaza as a gathering space

2SWIM NEW COMMUNITY BUILDERS

2SWIM is a social messaging app with an emphasis on close connections and private communities at the moment for Black, Indigenous & POC-, LGBTQIA+-, and/or womxn-centric communities (and allies!). New Community Builders is a 7 week program for 15-20 year olds in the United States and Canada interested in community building, culture, and collaboration, and who want to spend the summer honing their skills to build online communities.

NORTH EAST CHARLOTTE RFQ

The Arts & Science Council is accepting qualifications from artists/artist teams for a public art opportunity at the new Mecklenburg County North East Community Resource Center (NE CRC). The selected artist/ artist team will work with the ASC, Mecklenburg County Asset and Facilities Management, Gensler, and the communities of North East Charlotte, NC to create an impactful, integrated artwork that responds to the parameters of the site, the aesthetics of the architecture, and assists in creating a safe, welcoming, and inclusive space. Multiple potential sites and opportunities for the artwork have been identified. The selected artist or artist team will be involved in the site selection of the artwork and coordinate with the project team regarding art integration.

NYC CORO LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

Leadership New York (LNY) is a 9-month leadership program which hones the skills needed to get things done in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.  They provide participants with the knowledge of how New York City functions across the public, private and non-profit sectors through exploring multiple sides of key issues alongside a diverse group of cohort members. This is a paid program that can be sponsored by your employer and there are also scholarships.

The focus of the program this year will be helping the city recover and to do so in a more equitable way. 

SOUTH DAKOTA PUBLIC ART RFQ

The city of Brookings, South Dakota in partnership with the City of Brookings, SD, seeks an artist to develop, fabricate and install permanent outdoor artwork within the  Bob Sheldon Baseball Field and surrounding complex scheduled. The town of Batesville, Indiana is seeking qualified artists or artist teams to create outdoor permanent art projects for multiple locations in downtown Batesville. The City of Ocala, Florida is looking to build a Public Artist Roster. The Public Artist Roster is a pre-qualified list of professional visual artists that serves as a resource for public art selection and commission at the City and as a reference for external organizations and private entities.  The Roster may be used in combination with an open call, invitational or as the sole resource for identifying appropriate artists/teams for select projects based on; an expedited selection process, need for a specific skillset, or a curated opportunity.

The Untitled Space, SaveArtSpace, and Art4Equality have joined forces for an empowering public art series of billboards in New York City launching this September 2020, along with an exhibition of the artwork created for the series to be presented at The Untitled Space gallery this fall. Revolving around the theme of “Art4Equality x Life, Liberty & The Pursuit of Happiness” the public art series and exhibition is now open for artist submissions.

CCCADI CURATORIAL FELLOWSHIP IN AFRO-CARIBBEAN ART-

The CCCADI Curatorial Fellowship in Afro-Caribbean Art is dedicated to emerging curators of color committed to the artistic and cultural production of the Afro-Caribbean and its Diaspora, including the Dutch, English, French, and Spanish-speaking Caribbean. The year-long Curatorial Fellowship will provide mentorship, curatorial training, and institutional support to Ten Fellows. The goals are to elevate and deepen Fellows’ curatorial practice and knowledge of Caribbean African Diaspora Art and culture; advance professional development; and exchange ideas and best practices with notable curators, scholars, artists, and cultural workers about important issues in the field.

The Roddenberry Fellowship is a $1mil investment in the innovators, community leaders, and changemakers leading the efforts for a more just and equitable country. Crafts Future Fund

A new grant supporting craft communities & their creative responses to COVID-19. The Center for Craft is offering $5,000 unrestricted fund to craft-based education projects that seed resiliences, foster community and amplify impact. The Fund will award up to 6 project grants or $30,000 each month from May-Oct 2020.

Bright Walls Artist Call

Bright Walls is a public art and mural festival founded and run by the Jackson Young Professionals. In just two years, the festival has hosted artists from across the globe and brought 36 murals to the downtown district — creating a new destination in our community. The 2020 will be the festival’s last year.

Abrons Arts Center Visual Artist AIRspace Residency

A 9 month program for four NYC based visual artists. The program includes a semi-private studio in LES, studio visits with curators & art workers, a $3,000 unrestricted stipend and a culminating group exhibition in Abrons’ galleries.

Louisiana State University in partnership with LA Percent for Art Program is requesting portfolios for murals to be installed across the LSA's Animal & Food Science building's twenty-six locations. Durham's Call for Portfolios

The City of Durham's Cultural and Public Art Program invites artists and artist teams to submit portfolios to be selected to join the City of Durham Pre-Qualified Artist Registry. This registry will serve as a resource for the program's selection of artists and artist teams to create City cultural and public art projects. Access to a predetermined network of qualified professional artists saves our staff valuable time by making the process for responding to the numerous calls issued by the City more efficient. It also strengthens and streamlines the program by maintaining a database of artists in the community with particular skill sets.

Heart & Soul of Batesville Public Art

HeART and Sole of Downtown Batesville, Indiana serves as an arts‐based civic engagement process that promotes downtown Batesville and is intended to engage audiences of all ages. Batesville Public Art seeks qualified artists to design and create exterior art projects for a series of locations in downtown Batesville. Presented by New York Nico & Alumni of NY an online competition to lift the spirit of New York City and to support those in need. Artists are challenged to spark New York pride with an original design. The 3 best designs will be produced on t-shirts to be sold for charity.

Amplfier: Global Open Call for Art

In response to COVID-19, Amplifier and partners are launching an emergency campaign with top art curators and public-health advisors from around the world. They are looking for two kinds of work: The first are public health and safety messages that can help flatten the curve through education. The second are symbols that help promote mental health, well-being, and social change work during these stressful times.

Community Center Pool Mural

The Thornton Arts, Sciences & Humanities Council (TASHCO) , in collaboration with the city of Thornton, Colorado are seeking to commission large-scale, original public art. that will be installed at the Thornton Community Pool.  The project will produce public art work that speaks to the location, has a positive visual impact and welcomes visitors to the facility. The final work should push Thornton into a contemporary setting and help it become a destination-city; engaged in important conversations on art and culture.

Art in Public Places: Loveland Arts & Culture

The City of Loveland Art in Public Places is accepting Requests for Qualifications for artwork installations along 37th Street between North Lincoln Street and Monroe.  This project, called the 37th Street Connector, is a large-scale infrastructure project that will significantly improve connectivity and offer new options for east-west mobility in north Loveland. Two locations have been identified for public artwork installations.  Artists may apply to one or both of these projects through. Both projects are open to any professional artist (or artist team) with demonstrated experience in creating signature artwork of a large scale.

Creative Capital Arts Writers Grant Program

The Arts Writers Grant supports emerging and established writers who are writing about contemporary visual art. Ranging from $15,000 to $50,000, these grants support projects addressing both general and specialized art audiences, from short reviews for magazines and newspapers to in-depth scholarly studies.
