ARTIST CALL IMPACT 2022: ART THAT BEARS WITNESS

Bethany Arts Community is looking for artists to be a part of the exhibition, “Art That Bears Witness” curated by Juanita Lanzo. Throughout history, artists have played a vital role to bear witness to society’s injustices. As a democracy we have the right to create and exhibit protest art. Whether it is about racism, sexism, human rights, immigration, LGBTQ, food insecurity, housing, health care, criminal justice, or the environment, the creative community has informed, provoked, and influenced for change. Artists amplifying social issues are varied and include examples such as the many paintings of George Floyd by artists around the world amplifying the pain of the Black Lives Matter movement, or the 1937 painting Guernica, by Picasso, with its powerful anti-war statement, or Barbara Kruger’s silkscreen, Your Body is A Battleground, created for the March For Women’s Lives.The exhibition will include a variety of mediums such as painting, sculpture, video, light, photography, and multimedia.

The Public Art Committee of Johnson City, TN and Blue Plum Gives Back are seeking qualifications from artists or art teams for the commission of a mural to be located on Commerce Street in downtown Johnson City. BARRIER BEAUTIFICATION RFP

DOT Art commissions the installation of temporary mural and design treatments along concrete barriers that protect bike lanes and pedestrian walkways throughout New York City. WASSAIC WINTER RESIDENCY

This call is for individual artists, collaborative teams, and groups of two or more individual artists, and artists applying through our Family Residency program. Winter residents receive 24-hour access to an adaptable, semi-private, ~100 square-foot studio space in the historic Maxon Mills. Accommodations include a private bedroom in a shared house, complete with common spaces, 1–2 full bathrooms, and a kitchen (artists participating in our Family Residency will receive a private house). Artists-in-residence also have access to our wood shop and ceramics studio. Monthly programming includes open studios, group studio visits with our embedded critics, Ghost of a Dream, and one-on-one studio visits and artist talks with 2–3 creative professionals, our Director of Artistic Programming, and WP staff.

EUREKA CHINATOWN PROJECT/ EUREKA STREET ART FESTIVAL

The Eureka Chinatown Project is looking for a muralist to commemorate Eureka's lost Chinatown and current Chinese community here in Eureka. This mural will be part of the 2021 Eureka Street Art Festival. The mural will be in Old Town where the former Chinatown once stood before the Expulsion of 1885. NEVAL THOMAS ELEMENTARY BEAUTIFICATION

#GoodArtFam is looking for muralists to participate in the beautification of Neval Thomas Elementary in Washington D.C. Artwork should be inspirational for young elementary students that elevates their sense of self-worth or their ability to become whatever they dream. Artists are encouraged to demonstrate different styles of art: typography, abstract, graffiti/street art, etc. in their mural renderings. This will give a chance for the students to see the very wide range of artistic expression that the world has to offer. This is a 100% volunteer artist opportunity and is not compensated. Each artist is responsible for providing their own supplies for their mural. We recognize that in a perfect world we could compensate all artists for their time, so please know we are beyond thankful that you volunteered for this project.


TEACHING ARTIST

Children Museum of Art is looking for Remote Artist Instructors to provide engaging learning opportunities through the arts for students enrolled in online Summer Studio programs. Camps take place via Zoom and run weekly from July 5 to August 27 (Monday through Friday from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM). CMA anticipates each camp providing 22 hours of work per week, but camps will only run if our minimum enrollment is met. The Remote Artist Instructor will report to the Associate Director of Museum Programming.

AFRICATOWN PLAZA

Africatown Community Land Trust is seeking to commission an immersive, site-specific artwork integrated into the new courtyard and public walkway in front of the new Africatown Plaza. Africatown Plaza is envisioned to hold a contemporary African aesthetic and will be a space for healing, restoring, and celebrating Black and Pan-African communities in the Central District of Seattle. The selected artist(s) will help design and fabricate an integrated public artwork that will work in collaboration with the plaza design. Abrons Arts Center is pleased to announce the re-launch of its Parent Artist AIRspace Residency, which provides support for 1 parent artist working in the visual arts, music, curatorial practice, and/or literary arts. The Andy Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant supports emerging and established writers who write about contemporary visual art. O+ FESTIVAL KINGSTON

O+ Festival Kingston is now accepting submissions from artists of all mediums to transform the city into a public art experience. COLORADO COVENTION CENTER

The City of Denver's Public Art Program seeks to commission an artist or team of artists to create an original public artwork for the Colorado Convention Center Expansion. Florida’s Palmetto Bay plans to transform Franjo Road, downtown’s future Main Street, into a pedestrian-friendly street to significantly improve the area’s physical conditions through infrastructure improvements. The project objective is to create an art piece that fosters a sense of place and enhances the traffic circle. The piece should be appropriate for a public space and should be a piece which resembles the beauty of Palmetto Bay and provides a focal point at our Main Street.

The Maryland Department of Agriculture's (MDA) is hosting a call for qualifications open to artists and artist teams for their Salisbury Animal Health Lab. The Salisbury Animal Health Lab will play a critical role in regional efforts to safeguard the health of millions of birds on the Delmarva peninsula. The MDA seeks to commission either a two or three dimensional original and unique public artwork with an all inclusive total budget of $70,000.

MURAL ARTS PHILADELPHIA: COLORED COVENTION PROJECT

The City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program is proud to announce partnership with the Colored Conventions Project, an award-winning initiative that brings seven decades of early Black organizing to digital life at ColoredConventions.org. Together they are seeking proposals for the first in a series of murals to be dedicated to the rich history of the Colored Conventions Movement which was founded right here in Philadelphia. The project will run approximately from the beginning of June until late summer, and the artist fee will be $10,000.

AMPLIFY GRANTS

Designed for artists of color, AMPLIFY is a publicly-funded grant created with the intention of investing in artistic success. The AMPLIFY grant aims to provide artists with a chance to invest in their professional development by celebrating awardees with a one-time grant of $500. There will be two cycles of this grant to address the needs of artists at different stages in their careers.

Eligibility: This second grant cycle will be designated for BIPOC artists who demonstrate proficiency, potential, and passion in their artistic medium between the ages of 23-31. Applicants are not required to prove citizenship, but must reside in the USA or local territories.

CARIBBEAN CULTURE INSTITUTE ARTIST FELLOWSHIP

This fellowship is open to Caribbean artists and cultural practitioners, either based in the region or living in the diaspora. It is open to artists at any stage of their careers and to those working across disciplines and media. This is an opportunity for the development of artistic practice via studio work, institutional collaborations, and/or public programs. Artists interested in developing specific projects or ideas are encouraged to apply. The CCI will provide access to PAMM’s curatorial resources, networks, and institutional support. CARIBBEAN CULTURE INSTITUTE RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP

This fellowship is open to Caribbean researchers, scholars, or curators at any stage in their careers who are based the Caribbean region or its diaspora. An applicant’s research or practice should advance the study of visual culture and contemporary art in the Caribbean region and/or its diaspora. The Fellows will be able to develop their own research, and are encouraged to engage with PAMM’s Caribbean art collection. The CCI will support object-led research into PAMM’s Caribbean art collection in order to further scholarship on the visual arts of the region and share the collection with broader audiences. The Fellows will produce text about their research, which will be published on the CCI website.

NEWARK EMERGENCY GRANT

Individual artists who reside in Newark, NJ, whose livelihood has been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic may be eligible to receive a Newark Arts Emergency Grant. Newark Art’s Emergency Grant is a need-based mini-grant. It is intended to provide financial support to individual artists who live in Newark, NJ to support their ability to continue to create music, dance, theatre, film, visual and literary art projects. Grants will be awarded to individuals ranging up to $1,000 each.

The J.M.K. Innovation Prize seeks to identify, support, and elevate innovators who are spearheading transformative early-stage projects in the fields of social justice, the environment, and heritage conservation. Shelby x Studios uses art to help make social justice campaigns more accessible.
